Henry Toews

November 26, 1947 - September 20, 2022

Henry was born Heinz Ballau in Colonia Friesland, Paraguay on November 26, 1947. He moved to Canada in 1958 and his mother followed later. He was with the Fast family until his mother arrived from Paraguay and they moved to Winnipeg. Lydia Ballau, Henry's mother, married Abram Toews and was adopted by him.

He loved his rock music and one time got kicked out of an apartment with friend Ed Braun in his younger years.

Henry married Lori Chowen and moved to St Vital where they had 2 children. They would spend lots of time together at St. Ambroise and Lake Winnipeg before her passing.

He enjoyed road trips, camping at Twin Beaches and fishing with best friend John Rice.

Henry had a Courier company, HT Courier for 10 years and ended up working for Adams Supply for 25 years from which he retired in 2008.

He loved socializing and always offered a beer and leant an ear if one was needed. Henry will be greatly missed by all those who met him.

Your children Danny, Kelly and Gary along with stepchildren Mike, Chris, Geoffrey and Alycia plus Grandchildren Violet, Jade, Lily, Charley, Alyssa and Lincoln will, all miss you so much. Ruby Kennedy, just born in June, will be told stories about Opa.

Cremation has taken place, and a private Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2022.
