Hans Nuessler

November 30, 1954 - August 22, 2023

Hans Jurgen Heinz Helmut Nuessler, 68, of Winnipeg passed away suddenly on August 22, 2023. His passing was unexpected, leaving family and friends shocked and deeply saddened.

He will be truly missed in so many ways.

Hans was born on November 30, 1954 to Rudolf and Katharina Nuessler in Kleve, Germany. He shared his childhood with his seven siblings, Berndt, Rudi, Claus, Gunter, Margit, Dieter, and Rainer. The family immigrated to Canada in May of 1965.

Hans is survived and missed by his loving wife Karin of 42 years; his children - Cynthia (Edgar), Christine (Renel), David (Torrie), and Jonathon (Josette). He will forever be cherished and remembered by his five grandchildren, Rylan, Liam, Samson, Evelyn, and Ryker. He was devoted to his children and grandchildren.

Hans attended Westwood Collegiate. As most teenagers, Hans had several jobs during and after his high school years and eventually joined the Taxation department with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). In 1981, Hans moved to Vernon, BC and married the love of his life Karin. They moved back to Winnipeg in 1983 and once again, Hans worked at CRA until his retirement at the age of 54.

Hans was a man of a few words, and he expressed his love through acts of service. Hans could most often be found helping friends or family. He loved having his family around, and the entire family have many memories of hunting, fishing, boating, biking, stargazing at the cabin, long nature walks, a good game of dice, and an occasional game of golf/minigolf.  He loved it when his grandkids would come over for a swim and have a visit at the park. He enjoyed nature, exploring shorelines, tracking animal prints, collecting fossils and rocks, discovering ponds, picking wild berries, finding walking sticks, and enjoying afternoon naps.

Hans spent his final days planning his next hunting trip in good health, good spirits, and with the people who loved him the most. Hans will be forever remembered for his big heart, helpful and skilled hands, his sense of humour, and the lifetime of memories that will be cherished forever.

Services will be held at the New Apostolic Church, 1755 Taylor Avenue in Winnipeg on September 23, 2023 at 1:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in Hans’ memory can be made to Manitoba Wildlife Federation (mwf.mb.ca) or Heart and Stroke Foundation (heartandstroke.ca)
