Stephen F. Davidge
July 2, 1940 - August 22, 2024
Stephen F. Davidge, age 84, passed away suddenly on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at Sturgeon Creek Retirement Residence in Winnipeg, MB. Steve was born July 2, 1940, in Granby, QC, to Ernest and Muriel (Horner) Davidge.
He was predeceased by the mother of his children, Margaret (Butler) Davidge.
He is survived by his two children, Marianne (Pat) Keogh of Calgary and Michael Davidge (Jennifer Covert) of Ottawa; and his grandchildren Ryan, Hayden, Nolan and Bryn Keogh. He also leaves his sister Elizabeth Sullivan and her children, and numerous cousins and extended family.
After graduating from the University of New Brunswick with a BSc in Chemistry, he moved to Belleville ON, where he worked for Mead-Johnson Canada. In 1976, he moved to Winnipeg to start a lengthy career with the Manitoba Government in Food Science and Industry, Trade and Tourism. His job took his family to many places around the province, including Dauphin and Brandon and finally again to Winnipeg where he retired in 2000.
Steve was a lifelong sportsman and outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing and golfing. He was an avid sports fan and supported the Montreal Canadiens and then the Winnipeg Jets and Blue Bombers. He fostered this love of sports in his grandchildren.
A private cremation has taken place, and a celebration of life will be held with family at a later date.
