Helen Ruth Penner

May 5, 1933 - July 24, 2024

On Wednesday, July 24, 2024, Helen R. Penner of East St. Paul, Manitoba, a beloved mother, grandma and sister, left this world to the spirit world.  She was 91 years of age and as a child was raised on the family farm near Oak Bluff, Manitoba.

Helen worked for many years at Palliser Furniture as the manager for the two cafeterias.  She enjoyed her work in both kitchens, riding her golf cart between the two. She enjoyed creating new recipes for the workers, over 300 people enjoyed the food, and if there were leftovers they were sold at the end of the day.

Mom enjoyed cooking at home, making lots of soups, baking lots of cookies, and she also made many meat buns for family and friends. Eating healthily was always on her mind and so sneaking in beets and zucchini into her chocolate muffins and cakes was her specialty.

She will be dearly missed by her two children, Gregory Penner and Theresa Starr; one daughter-in-law, Connie Penner; her four grandchildren, Geoffrey Penner and partner Danielle Gaudet, Kathleen Penner, Rebecca Warkentin and partner Ollie and Thomas Warkentin and fiancé Nicole Boise; her sister, Marion Neufeld and her brother Abe Friesen.

Anyone that knew Helen knew her passion for cooking because she would often tell you how to make food tasty.  We know that many people will feel the loss of such a nice and kind lady.

Our family would like to thank all the Doctors and Nurses at the Health Sciences Centre, for all the care and kindness that they provided to our mom and mama during her final days.

Cremation has taken place, and a private memorial service for family and close friends will be held at a later date. Followed by a private graveside service in Springstein, Manitoba.
