Darlene Elaine Murphy

February 7, 1950 - June 16, 2023

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mother Darlene Elaine Murphy (Edwards) on Friday June 16, 2023, in Winnipeg, Manitoba at the age of 73 years.

She had been suffering from various ailments throughout the years and died peacefully though unexpectedly at the St. Boniface Hospital.

Darlene loved spending the afternoons watching her shows with our dog Crue snoozing beside her. She loved flowers and watching the birds at the feeder and being a proud brit’ (British) she loved her fish and chips.

She was always up for a “battle royal” argument as she put it and would never back down, but also loved telling silly jokes much to the groans, laughs and eye rolls of whoever she told them to. She seemed to live in a life of sadness and bitterness but beneath all that I believe she loved us with all her heart and I hope she secretly found some happiness here or wherever she may be now.

Born February 7, 1950, in Winnipeg, Manitoba she spent many years as a caretaker at the Silver Heights Apartments and as a beverage waitress at The Zoo and Charleswood motor hotel.

Darlene is survived by her 3 children, Sheryl, Tom, and Ray (Nichole) Neufeld. Her sisters Gayle Lang, Geri (Dan) Pawluk and Wendy Edwards. Nieces, Gwendy Mcfee, Kim Gapany, Sandra Pawluk and Angelina Edwards. Her grandchildren Logan, Colton, Katie, Liam, and Gracie. Great aunt to Joey Markwart. Predeceased by (ex-husband) Donald Neufeld (Eileen) and Husband Hubert Murphy.

Darlene ashes will be spread at a later date in Winnipeg.

If flowers grow in heaven, then pick a bunch for me.

Place them in my mother’s arms and tell her they’re from me.

Tell her that I love and miss her and when she turns to smile,

Place a kiss upon her cheek and hold her for a while.
