Ay-Ju (Andrew) Wu
March 23, 1935 - February 23, 2025
Peacefully on February 23, 2025, Ay-Ju passed away, a month shy of his 90th birthday.
The second oldest of 13 children, he was born in 1935 and raised in Hsinchu, Taiwan. In 1961, he received a Fulbright scholarship to Carnegie Mellon University in the US. After completing his PhD in Quantum Chemistry, he conducted research at a number of universities in Germany, Switzerland and Canada, including the University of Freiburg, which he considered his happiest of times. In 1977 he moved to Winnipeg to work for the University of Winnipeg and continue his research, with numerous papers published on the bonding energies of molecules and chemical reactions.
He is survived and remembered by five sisters and a brother, numerous nephews and nieces, and his long-time caregiver and family friend Lana.
