Vale Irene Martens

November 15, 1939 – April 8, 2022


Vale Irene Martens (Jamieson) passed away April 8, 2022, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, at the age of 82. She was predeceased by her husband Rudolf John Martens in 2008.

Vale had fought various health issues over the years and survived many treatments and surgeries. In 2009 she received news that she had Lymphoma and after 2 years of chemo treatments she won the battle but knew it would return and eventually take her.

Vale is survived by her four children James (Sherry) of Texas, Bradley (Laurie) of Manitoba, Susan (Alain) of Manitoba and Brian (Judy) of Alberta. She has 7 grandchildren Chris (Jazmin), Kyle (Josiele), Tyler, Lucas (Katelyn), Haley, Allison (Chaz), Brett. Two great- grandchildren, Levi and Enzo and a third on the way.
She is also survived by her sister Dell Burke of Quesnel, BC.

Vale grew up in Chilliwack, BC and met her husband at Chilliwack High School. After many years of following her husband’s Military career through 3 different countries and well over 20 homes they retired back in BC.
They lived on Vancouver Island for 15 years enjoying camping and fishing together. Vale has said camping was her favorite thing to do with Rudy. In 2005 they returned to their roots in Chilliwack and reconnected with many of their high school chums. In 2019 Vale moved to Manitoba to be closer to her children.

Vale enjoyed many crafts such as painting, sewing and quilting. She became quite proficient on her computer, downloading programs for embroidery patterns that she would sew into her quilts. These quilts will be treasured by the family for generations to come.

There will be no service, per her request, an interment will take place at a later date in BC.
