Marguerite MacEwing (Madson)
May 29, 1918 - July 31, 2024
Marguerite is survived by her daughters Heather Rose (Gerald) and April Kelly; grandchildren Jason Rose (Rosie), Bryan Rose (Faye), Ryan Kelly (Kathleen), and Laura Kelly; great grandchildren Zorn Rose, Gus Rose and Sienna Rose, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Marguerite was predeceased by her husband Bill, parents Edna and Mads Madson, siblings Bernice Rayment, Jack Madson, Audrey Madson, Shirley McGregor and son-in-law Ted Kelly.
Born in Saskatoon, she grew up in Edmonton, Regina and Winnipeg where she completed the secretarial course at Angus Business College. She met and married Bill MacEwing when they both worked at McColl-Frontenac Oil.
Becoming a full-time mother, she left the work force and was active in River Heights community events, neighbourhood coffee, church and bridge. When the children were older, she began her second career as school secretary, first at Dufferin School and then at Robert H. Smith School.
When Marguerite and Bill both retired, they enjoyed ‘early springs’ in Victoria. In 2006, Marguerite moved into Colorado Estates where she had an unanticipated, fulfilling social life and developed many deep friendships.
“To love and be loved is the greatest gift”. Marguerite was truly thankful for a long life of good health and love.
As per her wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service.
