Lucia Joanne Pinilo

(nee Kovacic)

December 13, 1922 - January 1, 2023

Passed away peacefully at home in Winnipeg, with family by her side on January 1, 2023  at the age of 100 years.

She was predeceased by her husband Russell Pinilo.

Lucia is lovingly remembered by her children, Lorna (Derrick), Michael (Mary) and James (Janet), grandchildren, Elisa and Danica (James) and great grandchildren, Orrin and Caleb.

Born and raised in Jesenice, Slovenia, Yugoslavia, Lucia came to Winnipeg as a refugee in 1948. She met Russell and together they spent many years raising their family in River Heights before moving to Southdale.

She passed along her love of music to her children which has continued to this day. Lucia also developed a deep love of God reflected in the beauty of creation and His purpose for mankind. Many hours were spent in the backyard observing wildlife and sharing her joy and hope with family and friends.

The family especially thanks CBI and ILRC for the wonderful staff who truly cared about Mom in her daily activity, and they made her life happy and joyful.

There will be no service by request, and a private cremation has taken place.
