Joanne Patricia Hunter
November 18, 1932 - October 26, 2024
We are so saddened to announce the passing of our dear mom, gramma, great gramma, sister and friend on October 26th, 2024 at the age of 91. Joanne was predeceased by her husband Gordon Hunter and her parents John and Mable Cliford.
She is lovingly remembered by her brother Don (Elsie) and family. Feeling the greatest loss will be her six children, Lori, Craig (Nancy), Cole (Bonnie), Leigh Ann (Mario), Cliff (Louise), and Clint, as well as thirteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren whom she thoroughly enjoyed.
Joanne was born on November 18th, 1932 , in North Battleford, Saskatchewan, and attended nursing school in Edmonton, Alberta. On April 7th,1956, she married Gordon. They resided and raised their family in Winnipeg.
Joanne was a people person and loved her community. Up until her health failed, she was very involved with Al-Anon in East Kildonan. Over the years, she guided and supported countless families and built lasting relationships.
She was also a member of the East Kildonan Garden Club, where she had a knack for always winning something at the auction! She could also be found yearly at the Miles Macdonell Christmas craft sale, where she was delighted to craft something new every year.
Joanne was quite the crafter, doing everything from sewing to knitting, felting, beading, jewelry making, and much more.
She was also an avid gardener who loved being outdoors. Her garden in Winnipeg is full of her beloved perennials that she lovingly cared for. She also cherished the years spent gardening in Florida during her snowbird winters with Gordon, where they formed lifelong friendships.
Joanne was not only a gifted crafter and gardener but also a wonderful cook and baker. Her kitchen was always filled with the aroma of something delicious. She took pride in preparing meals and baked goods for family and friends and it brought her joy to bring people together.
Joanne, you loved life to the fullest and always had a smile on your face. We are sad to see you go, but we know there are many gardening and sewing projects, crafts, and recipes awaiting you up above. We are sure Dad and all your kitties will be by your side. You’ll finally be reunited with your twin brother, who died in infancy and whom you felt you missed all your life.
Many thanks to Concordia Hospital Staff for their care as the family kept bedside vigil for the last ten days of her life. A private cremation has taken place.
