Doreen Florence Samagalski

(nee Gibson)

November 22, 1936 - May 22, 2024

Unexpectedly but peacefully with her family at her side, Mom/Baba passed away on May 22,2024 at St Boniface Hospital.   She was predeceased by her husband Steve.  She leaves behind her children, Mark (Allison) Perry (Michelle) Cleo (Craig); Grandchildren, Kali, Sydney and Blake.

Mom was born in Winnipeg and moved to Walklyburg where she met Dad.  Mom and Dad farmed until 1995 and moved to Winnipeg after retiring from the farm.  Mom enjoyed cooking and playing Bingo.  You could never leave the table without stuffing your face (her cooking was so good) and an hour later she would ask if anyone was hungry.  Mom loved her grandchildren very much and enjoyed spending time with them when they came to visit.  Mom loved feeding her squirrels at the apartment and then get upset at them when they made a mess on her patio.  She also spent her days doing jig-saw puzzles and when baseball season came around she was glued to the tv watching her beloved Toronto Blue Jays. 

Mom had a stroke in November and was moved to a personal care home.  She never fully recovered.  We would like to thank the staff at Maples Personal Care home for looking after mom the last 6 months. She will be missed by family and friends. 

Cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service. In lieu of flowers, donations in Doreen’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
